Important information & safety tips

1. Cell phone reception is not reliable. Many areas are without service and Google maps will not work. 

   1. Google Photos supports downloading offline maps instructions can be found here. This will ensure even when you have no cell reception that you can navigate around. It’s important to update this every couple of days as map data changes frequently.

2. Many locations are not accepting credit cards or android/apple pay. Due to not having the internet. Cash is the only accepted form of payment. ATMs in most places are out of cash or not working. And or have limits of 200 dollar withdrawal.

   1. Keep cash hidden. It can make you a target.

3. At minimum, have a gas canister with 3 gallons in the trunk. 

   1. Many gas stations are without fuel. If you’re going into remote regions, it’s possible that detours can cause you to use more gas than you expected. Having a spare canister can save you from becoming stranded.

4. Wear Boots, there are many places where the footing is not stable and you can slip. 

   1. Your boots should be something you’d be comfortable wearing on a hike. 

5. Enable GPS tagging on photos. This allows you to take a photo which has geo location embedded in the picture. Which makes it easier to find later on.

6. Air quality warning - there are dangerous levels of dust in some areas. Sunglasses and masks/face covering are recommended. When doing construction work wear PPE.
